I guess it would depend on where you want to live. Typically, like any other job, the pay would depend on the cost of living in a given area. Crime rate varies from state to state, so if you are looking for a city or state with lots of crime, do a little research. It would be easy to find. I was a police officer in Ohio, mostly because that where I grew up... thats where I lived. Any state can be good for cops. But it would take some research on your part to find the one that best fits your desires. If you want to be a cop for the money, forget it. If you want to do it for the respect, forget it. If you think you can change the world, forget it. But if you want to do it because you want to do it, or maybe because its a tough, demanding job but with some satisfaction, then you may be pretty good at it. Being a cop is a little like every other job, some days you are the statue and some days you are the pigeon. There is however, a lot of satisfaction in knowing that your action can get a criminal off the street and in jail. But you can't worry about how long they stay there, or even if the get convicted. That will make you crazy. Just know that you did your best and you will have the utmost respect from your fellow officers. And they will be your family. They will be the ones watching your back. And from personal experience, being a cop is the greatest show on earth even though its one of the most frustrating.

Nassau County on Long Island in New York. They are the highest paid in the country and all the towns are low-crime, affluent areas (except for a few towns).

I like Maine. The pay is less, but I have lived here all my life, except for my military service, but it's nice to patrol your own neighborhood. Most citizens will feel more at ease with a "local."

technically....California. It has the best training programs which could save your life. In terms of pay it's not that great because of the high cost of living.

There is no such place, because you can't control what happens on the job, or the environment you work.
