Where I work you have to be alert at all times( at Chase Bank in the collections department)this guy who sits in front of me is always sleeping. so one day me & a couple of other co-workers watched him for a while.what he does it falls into a deep sleep(snoaring & everything) then when a call comes in he'll wake right up and take the call as if he wasnt sleeping. Before he went on the phones by himself we caught him sleeping while he was standing. He's still in training but on the phones. Do you guys think its some kind of sleep disorder or something?...and Im wondering if the company knows.

Could be Narcolepsy. It is known as Excessive Daytime Sleepiness. This disorder causes the person to be in REM sleep, which is also the easiest sleep stage that a person can be waken up in.

It could very well be a sleep disorder. You might mention to him that you have seen him sleeping at work. Suggest he see a doctor for a sleep test. Heaven forbid he fall asleep while driving! You could be doing a public service by getting him medical help.

He either works too many jobs, or has a disorder. The company should be made aware of the situation.

Sounds like either narcolepcy, (my grandma had that) or sleep apnea (my friend had that) . She would fall asleep standing up too. He really should get that checked out, it's not healthy to be that sleep deprived.
