All of em? Cause if you could point out the bits of our laws where it's illegal to covet, I'd appreciate that.

My best guess is that it might have something to do with "libel and slander". It is illegal to ruin someone's good name by telling false things about them. Most of the time people use slander when they are jealous of another person and intentionally attempt to make them look bad in the eyes of other people.

It's kind of like coveting....because you want to take something that someone else has.

Sodapop said it perfectly. I simply cannot beat that answer however hard I try. As is STILL evident in this day and age, too much of the U.S. has been built upon ignorance, violence and hatred, much like nearly every other country. Luckily, men like Ben Franklin attempted to change this. The current government condones every bit of it.

Ooh, how about the other big ones... 7 deadly sins. I'd like to think that America has done an excellent job of combating gluttony through its laws. I think all of my 300+ lb. compatriots can agree with that.

Hmm.. do you think anorexia would be a sin if God decided to send us a fresh Bible?

It is not illegal to covet. It is not illegal not to honor your parents. It is not illegal to have other gods before you. It is not illegal to commit adultery. It is not illegal to take the name of the Lord in vain. But to do any of these things is unwise and sinful.

It was thou shalt not steal, at least that is what they told the natives, but it might have been thou shalt not kill, same people got told.
