Man made global warming is a fact and needs to be dealt with now. As for the weather you are seeing in New England, this year isn't necessarily directly due to global warming. We have to keep in mind this is an El Nino year and weather is off all around the globe right now. This year the polar front, which brings cold weather to the northern US during the winter is sitting much farther north this year because of El Nino. It can also bring colder air farther south in some other areas as might be happening in Washington State. El Nino is a natural occurrence, but they are not only increasing in frequency but also in severity, and this could possibly be due to global warming.
Somebody mentioned the Ozone Layer, which is a completely different issue. The hole in the Ozone Layer is still there, but because nations around the world did something about it, by banning CFCs when the Montreal Protocol was signed in 1989, the hole isn’t getting any bigger. This is the type of agreement that we need today to deal with global warming. Unfortunately ignorance and disinformation is getting in the way.

I am from Washington State, north of Seattle. Canada is just an hour away. What we have had could be "global freezing" with windstorms, snowstorms, and power outages that last for days.
Is it getting warmer? The power is back on now, but I am freezing my can off every time I leave the boat and walk uphill to my car where I have to run the defroster for 10-15 minutes before I can leave the parking lot.
Winters like this, I think global warming would be wonderful! If it means a sunny, 60 degree winter day in Western Washington, I am all for it!!!! Let us release more of these hydrofluorocarbons into the atmosphere. We need to burn more of the ozone layer and encourage cigarette smoking. Bring on that sun and bring it on fast!!!!!
In California, my brother lives in Walnut Creek. The temperature in the Bay Area is 54 and he is complaining about how cold it is, not how warm. By about this time, three years ago, a winter day was in the 60s and 70s, not the 50s.
I think I will step outside and pollute the environment by spraying my sister's hairspray into the atmosphere and see if that helps bring on the higher temperatures Clinton and Gore were so concerned about.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
Usually we just have rain again.

I think our planet is warming. Some think this means that it just gets hotter. This is not the case. Global Warming means we have hotter hots and colder colds. Eventually global warming will lead to a whole lot of water and water when cold freezes, and frozen water is usually white and white reflects the sun, thus driving the tempratures down lower and lower... like the iceage.Think of our planet as a big machine. When one thing breaks or is damaged the machine can continue to operate but at a less than perfect rate. Causing other parts of the machine to work harder, which ultimatly causes damage to even more parts of the machine. Are all damaged parts going to act and function the same? No they will all act in different ways. A better place to look for answers is. . . http://www.levity.com/eschaton/Why2012.html and http://www.columbia.edu/cu/record/archives/vol21/vol21_iss14/record2114.23.html. Our planet has gone thru this before. Christians call it the rapture and the great flood. But this is just what our earth does. I included info about 2012 because I think we are at a very critical point in Earths natural processes... or evolution. And for dude that said "when is the last time we heard about the hole in the ozone" I think the global warming thing we all are hearing about is directly related to that hole. mmmkay
Edit #2 I am from Sunny Southern California. It is about 49 right now and raining. We have had many freezes already this year, which hardly ever happens away from the mountains. Yet our summer was hot as hell.

I live in Chicago which is notorious for bad winter weather. This whole winter has been about 40-50 degrees steadily with only a week or so in single digit temps. I am totally bummed out cause I bought really cute gloves and boots the week it was cold and they have been sitting in my closet ever since. I don't know what is going on, I think both sides to the argument are very plausible, but I am happy that I don't have to dig my car out from 2 feet of snow every other week! I have lived in Illinois my whole life and I never remember temps like this.

"Global Warming" does exist--however, it's not as blown out as the media makes it.
The Earth is warming naturally, and just about the only thing we can do to stop it is inact Nuclear Winter, which would involve us starting World War III. And we don't want that, do we?
You see, we're coming out of a mini-ice age, that hit its low in Medieval times. The Earth is going back to its normal temperature, that's all.
Sure, do be mindful of your emissions, but that's for general health, not Earth! And before you start driving hybrids and the like, keep in mind that car emissions account for less than 1% of the Earth's pollution. The rest is industry, cigarettes, etc.
However, there are some real threats. The polar ice caps are melting, but at a perfectly natural rate.
The Earth is progressing at its natural pace, it's not anything we've brought upon it. So don't really worry.
And for the record, our winter here in Los Angeles isn't any colder or warmer than it usually is--just the standard mid-60s to low-70s faire.

Here's something to chew on. For years Coal Mining and Oil Driling have been done in the Antarctica.
Where does coal come from?
http://pelotes.jea.com/Programs/solar/Where%20Does%20Oil%20Come%20From.pdf
That's right, from decayed plantlife from marshes and oceans. It is called Plankton.
Now, ask yourself. How could plantlife have ever existed in the Antarctica without drastically elevated temperatures at some point in History?
The Bible says there is nothing new under the Sun, this is just another example.

some scientists believe that it has happened before and that the earth is getting warmer it is just a small step to another ice age and even if all the ice on earth does melt the world will not be coverd in water just more than what is right now i think i heard about a mile or so higher which if you think about it isnt that much so global warming may be only a small problem to a bigger one

For everyone that believes in global warming please go to these websites for the record lows and record highs of each state. LOOK AT THE DATES. There are more record lows than highs in the past 20 years.

Global warming is the same fake scare as the hole in the ozone they were so concerned about in the 80's. When's the last time you heard about that?
