I had filed a fraud claim for charges on my checking account last week for the company CJW Holding and I was wondering if this means that I have gotten my money back? Has anyone been through this and know what this means. Anyone work for BofA? That is where I bank. Thanks in advance!

Former BofA employee - A temporary credit is given to you when you claim someone wrongfully took money out of your account. BofA doesn't want that money to cause you any problems in your account, like bounced checks, etc. while they investigate your claim. If you are found to be correct in your claim, you keep that temporary credit, if you are found to be responsible, they can legally take that credit back at any time. That's why they called it a temp credit. Hope this helps!

means that the money is in your account as a courtesy while the bank conducts an investigation of the fraud. If they find that it was fraud, the money stays. If they find some other discrepencies or find the charges are valid - they take back the money. So basically they are taking your word for it that charges are fraud and have given you back your money.

well what happens if you spend that money during the investigation for whatever reason. be it food or books for college , will they charge for that money given back if it turns out that those charges were valid and not fraud ?
