Basically, you are stuck being a character in a one-on-many fighting game where you know you're going to have to let some *spaz* guide you through a computer generated army of *hundreds* of two-hit mooks....only to have you die a *lot* once you get to the Boss. Who are you?
A) The Savate/kickboxer with Steel-toed Boots on,
B) The Boxer with Brass Knuckles on,
C) The scrawny Punk with a Knife,
D) The *twin sister* of the scrawny Punk, with a pair of Nunchaku,
E) The Big shirtless Wrestler Guy, with a strip of Piano Wire between his mitts, or....
F) enter your Cheat Code here, and *roll your own* fighter (character MUST have weaknesses...if your guy has a gun, He/She MUST have limited ammo, for example).
So, which Character are you, what's your Cheat Code (if you use one), and how long do you think you'd go on ONE Credit (No Continues)?

Well...I wasn't thinking of any specific games but yeah, Sega's _Streets of Rage_ does come to mind now that you mention it. :) Actually though this was more of a late-night, off-the-wall *ranges* question.
As in, you know you are going up against a horde. You have the option of striking, using weapons, grappling and even *cheating* (within reason). Most of your opponents are going to be scrubby (the "mooks" being your puny one-hit wonders), but not all of them are (the bosses being on a par with yourself).
I just find it interesting that so far, the best options seem to be to Cheat (become Kirby and Get the Cool Super-Powers already) and to stay at long range. But then again, there aren't a *lot* of classic one-on-many brawlers that *do* have dogpiles and get nasty on the ground. Mea culpa. :)
I hope this helps a bit, in terms of answering the "What the hell....how is THIS relevant?" question. :)
