Hi there...for deterring inappropriate cat behaviour around electrical wires consider using a cable wire loom to bundle up the the wires. The loom is very inexpensive and not only does it prevent the cat from tangling in the wires, but also tidies the area up as well. You should be able to find some of these at local hardware stores if not you can order these online. Cable Organizer Wire Loom: http://cableorganizer.com/wire-loom/
For the wires that are difficult to bundle consider using either apple cider vinegar or ara pet-friendly deterrent spray-on product called Grannick's Bitter Apple® http://www.grannicks.com usually found worldwide at most pet stores. It is a citrusy scent that once a cat tastes will generally avoid those areas which have that particular odour. Rather than directly spray these onto the wires and plugs, first unplug the electrical wires, surge suppressors then mist the solution on your hand to coat the wires manually.

Maybe he is teething if he's young or he is very bored. Tape all of the wires down on the carpet with duct tape and keep all other wires like headphones out of reach when not in use. Provide him amusing toys and chewing toys so he will stay busy. Pet stores even sell cat chewing bones/sticks so you may try that too. If he still chew on wires you can hiss at him. It's a universal sound of danger or disapproval so he'd understand. Then toss him some toys or chewing bones so he'd get distracted.

WOW I thought I had the only weirdo cat that does that, he is 12 years old and still chews on them. He has never chewed through one but I have always been worried about that happening. I don't know how to make them stop, I always just yell at him to quit. But he eventually does it again. I thought about putting that stuff to keep ppl from nail biting on the wires, not on the plug only on the cord part obviously.

for cats and dogs it is very normal to chew things. wires tend to be very appealing to them. it may be because they know they are not supposed to. the hard part about wires is u cant spray them with something like bitter apple spray. what i suggest is:
1. hide the wires(with a thin peice of wood or plastic)
2. stop the cat in the act and give him a big scolding so he wont do it again
good luck! and stay safe!

Pet supplies companies make a product to put on things like cords that is very bitter. Putting some on a cotton ball then rubbing it on the cord will give it a horrible taste and discourage your cat from chewing. The product is usually called Bitter Apple, but there may be some other brands.

Do the squirt bottle discouragement. Get cords hidden and give her some other things to play with. My friend had a cat and he and wife went out Xmas shopping. They came home to the fire department putting out the fire. The cat chewed through the Christmas tree lights cord. The cat was fine.

Devote a few hours to watch her and have a spray bottle on spay stream setting. Whenever she approaches the wires and starts sniffing at them give her a short quick blast. It doesn't need to be a lot of water, but it has an immediate effect without you having to move, hit or shout. I have found this the best way to "train" a cat.

try putting small plastic tubing, such as pvc around wires...this way she can't chew, and the wires are safe. Really works good, for dogs too. Good alternative to chemical sprays.

You will have to put them where she can't get to them. Either that or "wrap" them in protective tape.
You definitely need to get her away from this stuff before she hurts herself!
Just a question- is she still a kitten? Most cats outgrow the chewing phase.

Maybe you can get some cat toys if you haven't already? You can get some string and play with your cat more often with the string a leave it out on the floor and maybe your cat will pick it up and play with it instead. also shoe strings are good they like them. Good Luck!!!
