Moggie is sturdy, that could be a think approximately their wide-spread habit; that is how they socialize and teach affection. My 2 budgies like to preen one yet another (they're one male and one lady - my male extremely preens the female better than any incorrect way around). additionally, birds can't attain their own faces with their beaks so it facilitates to have a mate to groom this area of their physique. in specific circumstances whilst the feathers first improve in they have a casing on them (pin feathers) that gets preened off by technique of the different poultry, because of the fact that they might't try this area themselves. So that is extremely healthful for them besides.

This is natural::
Preening is a part of feather care.
It is simply putting the feather back into the correct position.
Also;;
The birds apply oil to thier feathers in the process of preening.
The oil is produced by a special glad;;
The Uropygial gland.
The bird also nibbles along the lines of the feather to straighten out && to reposition it.

Birds who preen each other are doing it for two reasons. It is an affectionate response to one another, but really doesn't have anything to do with the mating process. After all, birds are very affectionate and loving creatures. And they are helping each other get to the spots that can't be reached. It's really quite sweet to see.

A parakeet will normally preen his feathers daily, keeping them clean and free of dust. So you might see your parakeet sliding his feathers through his beak, nibbling at his feathers, scratching his head with his claws, and fluffing up. signs of affection to the other parakeet :)
