Usually glass with a metal like aluminium or glass evaporated onto the surface and covered with a coat of paint to protect it.

They usually made by a glass and a very thin layer of mercury (Hg with atomic #80) beyond it .
and you know that mercury is liquid in our living tempratur.so they use some sort of material (like glue) to make it fix.
