I was in the Army in 1988. We had a field manual that our Drill instructors called the "smartbook".
This manual explained everything from drill and ceremony to how to service the M-16. It taught how to make fresh water stills in the desert and how to find North using the sun. It also explained the basic hand grenade styles.
I'm trying to locate one, but I don't know the actual name or number of the field manual.
Every soldier in basic training got one.
If you know the name, or where to get one, please let me know,
thanx.

I would suggest keeping a look out on eaby ,or checking some of the used book dealer sites on line, but I'm sure someone will have a better answer for you.
