The best advice for giving to charities is NOT to give to one that sends you an email asking you for money.
Call united way or the salvation army if you live in the United States.
If not, look in your local phone book and find a charity that way.
IT is probably a scam!

No never got any mail from them and make sure you watch what you say to them all they want is for you to help them get U.S money and send it to them and they will send you traveler check's and ask you to take them to your bank and cash them in and send them the money back but they will tell you to keep some for your trouble so please be careful
