I hadn't dated in 14 years. I signed up on Yahoo personals and Match.com. Met some really nice people. Never did meet a weirdo. I had interesting dates and dated some of the women for several months. I married a woman I met on Yahoo personals. She is the love of my life. My 10-year-old daughter loves her more than her own mother. It can work as long as you are careful. Just be sure to meet them in a very public place. Maybe have a friend call you on your cell phone at a predetermined time just in case the person in a little weird so that you have an excuse to leave. Meeting people on the internet is no more dangerous than the bar scene as long as you are careful and use some common sense. Just so you know, I'm 47 and my wonderful wife is 45.

I met my wife on Match.com. I liked that we were able to pick the criteria in a mate we were looking for. We both had a child from previous marriages and were both looking for someone with a child so we could gauge what type of parent they were. We were both looking for someone who didn't drink or smoke too, so it was very easy to weed people out. We just had our first baby together 5 months ago. My wife is the love of my live and I feel like the luckiest guy in the world to have found her. She is an excellent mother to my son who we have full-time and you would never know that my step-daughter and son weren't real siblings. My sister-in-law also found her true love over the internet too. I don't understand why people think you've less likely to be lied to in person than over the net. Just make sure you get a good picture of them and like them for who they are.

25 years? Wow, well online dating is one of the new easy ways to meet people... but please be careful... meet at public places.. restaurants, etc. If they are evasive about anything... they are probably married... I met a great guy online.. so I would give it a thumbs up. Church is ok, if it's a very large church... not alot of singles there otherwise. They have Seniors groups, etc. That's a good place to start in the real world!

I'm very leary of the whole online dating thing. You just never really know the person behind the computer. Just start up conversations with men wherever you go. Next time you're waiting in line, strike up a conversation. You never know where you'll meet that special one.

dating can be scary period. I have had friends really hook up and get engadged and some friends to get married off of eharmony.com
please try them. They are the one that I know is pretty safe and it's no different than meeting a stranger on the street . I say go for it. No one wants to be alone forever right? Good luck & GOd Bless~

From me, a man, I don't think online is a good idea... A proper introduction from a friend you trust, is the way to go...

Congratulations :)
Sweetie if you decide to try online dating, please stick to guys in your area...long-distance online relationships leave to much room for dishonesty. My friend meets guys online in her own town, and actually gets to meet them in person...so much easier to make judgements that way.
Other than that, try and get involved in activities, clubs, volunteering, etc. If you pursue your own interests, you might meet up with a guy who shares them, and that's a good starting point. Good luck :)
