Pale is in!! Tan is out. Not only does tanning causes skin cancer, and increases aging wrinkles, it's not really 'in' anymore. In my high school lots of girls would tan (in my opinion they looked ridiculous) Now that I'm in college in the big city (Chicago) no one tans. Look at movie stars today, none of them are tan anymore.

Sure it's okay. Especially considering how dangerous too much sun exposure can be nowadays. Look at Amy Lee from Evanescence, she tends to be on the pale side and is adorable. Keep in mind though that you really do need about 15 minutes of direct sun a day to sort of buff your health. I have been told that certain vitamins and supplements are further activated by a little daily sun. Dunno if that's true but seemed to work.
Good health is more important than fashion hon, and melanoma isn't something you want to deal with later in life.

It's perfectly fine to be pale. Honestly, being tan to be "in-style" shouldn't matter. You are who you are and who cares what other people think. Sure people might joke around with you about it but make a joke back. Not so much of a joke to "get back at them" just a joke to show that you can laugh at yourself. Anyways, being pale isn't that bad. . .you can wear some colors that look really bad on others because of there skin tones. Just remember you are who you are and it shouldn't matter what other people think.

Ofcourse. You shouldn't worry about what other people think. I'm pretty pale too...my legs are so white, they glow in the dark...lol. I've never had trouble meeting guys either. Most people say that your only pretty if you are tan. Trust me its not true. My twin sis, goes to the tanning salon, and i got more guys then she did. She also attracted jerks that 9 times out of 10, hit on me.

Oh, for God sakes!!!
I don't mean to be rude, but what is wrong with porcelain skin????
I encounter so many insecure females on this site and I just can't for the life of me, understand this insanity.
Of course, pale skin is gorgeous!!! You don't need a tan, and for the love of God, don't go to those hideous tanning beds, you will pay dearly in the future, I assure you. You'll have crow's feet on your eyes before you hit your 25th birthday.
My mother has porcelain skin. She's nuts because she does everything in her power to change her looks--be it through tons of plastic surgery, tanning....UUUUUGGGGGHHHH, you name it. She is the epitome of an insecure and miserable woman.
Don't fall into this hype where everyone with porcelain skin was born with flawed skin. It's not all that to be dark.
My best friend looks like Catherine Zeta-Jones. She's got jet black hair, dark brown eyes, China-porcelain skin and she loves it. It makes for a beautiful contrast. I bet you're a stunner and men hit on you, so, I don't know where this is coming from. Most girl tan (God knows why??? I think they're nuts and insecure).
I am not going to give you a song and dance, but concentrate on something worth while like volunteering to help the needy. If you have too much time on your hands to think about your physical appearance, then that's all you're going to be doing.
What worked for me to "improve" my looks, was to stay out of the sun, not use makeup, I don't drink/smoke/do drugs, andyway, so that's not a problem........eat 10 fruits and veggies everyday, cut out the greasy foods and simple sugars (these are murderous) and exercise with cardio and weights. You'll be so incredibly confident after all of this.
You don't need to darken your skin. Nature gave you the perfect shade of skin--Native American, too. I've seen them, they're gorgeous. If fellow Native Americans are teasing you about your complexion, tell them that they're just jealous and walk away.
Good luck....

It's wonderful to be pale!! according to the entertainment and fashion industries, being pale is beautiful. i watch the tyra banks show and america's next top model all the time and in most cases, what you beleive is your worst feature is what makes you the most unique. big ears, big eyes, long neck, freckles...etc. Your "pale" skin may give the advantage towards a more classical look.
This may be a little off the subject but my lips are really small.. which is kinda rare feature for an african american woman but to make matters worse...my bottom lip is pink. and growing up i hated my lips because cruel kids used to make fun of them. but now most people think that they are one of my best features. so... love what you got !! : )

Nicole Kidman, Katherine Zeta Jones, and many more are "pale". Just think when all the tan people are having skin cancer spots cut off, you will still be just pale. You can always try a sunless tanning lotion or the hint of color lotions (for a little color). These won't make you really dark, but they will give you a hint of color.

Yes, absolutely. Just look at celebs like Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, etc. Being pale is fine. It looks a heck of alot better to stay that way if you don't tan than applying alot of sunless tanner and turning fluorescent orange. (cough::lindsay lohan::cough)

i'm soo pale, and i would absolutely love to be tan, but i know that i'll regret it so much when i'm 30 and look 55. my friends go to tanning beds all the time, and it's just not worth the long term effects.
embrace your paleness!!! ...and wear some bronzer:)
