My mother has accumulated a large sum of diamonds and other jewels in her 83 years. We were having a discussion about who she should will them to. She has two daughters and three daughters-in-law. She thinks the d-i-l should have equal shares. I told her that the d-i-l had their own mothers who could will them theirs.

Who ever she wants to,I am sure there are reasons she has chosen who gets what. You should agree with her every desire and wish. This could be the last time to show your mother that she has raised great unselfish children, that would be sad for her to think she was going to have people she loves arguing over material things in the last part of her life.I would make sure from here on out to make sure I told her every morning, noon,& night how much I love her.

Hum, the vultures are hovering. I think it's up to your mother who she leaves her possessions to. She accumulated them, now it sounds like you just want to reap the profits... she'll see though that too.

I agree that it is your mom's decision, but...do the D-I-L's have any daughters? If so, your mom could will them to the girls, and insure they would always stay in the family.

The mom should give them to who ever she wants to give them to. If they go to in laws they'll be passed down to her grand and great grand children anyway.

You have no say. She has the right to do whatever with them. She can even donate them to her favourite charities or auction them off and spend the money herself.

I think she should will them to whomever she wants. You should be grateful for ANYTHING you get. Stop being greedy. If she wanted to give them to a bum on the street that is her business.

The jewels belong to your mother, not you. You should have no say so about it, they are hers to leave to whoever she wants.

That's entirely up to her disgression. Are you sure she hasn't already decided this in her will? Whatever you do, don't be greedy.
