Does it even crank? When you turn the key on, do the lights on the dash board illuminate? and what engine does your car have?

Actually that is an excellent price for a 1996 Maxima with 150,000 miles. The GLE is the top trim also. The engine is the best V6 in the auto industry at the time also and will not let you down. If you can, test drive the car, have it checked out...Nissan has had service advisories on the auto trannies and it may require a speial type of fluid to correct the problem. Reliabilty for 1996-1999 Maximas has been excellent, ranking above the Honda Accord. Repairs are costly, though.

What a waste of money. Who advised you to chanfe the computer ?? This would be absolutely the last thing to replace. NEVER replace ANY part till you know the problem. Sounds like you are at the dealer, this is their favorite sport, sell a lot of stuff. Be sure you get your old computer, don't let them keep it to sell to some one else. Find a new "mechanik" If the car suddenly quit with no warning and no check engine lite on a half smart "mechanik" would suspect the crank / cam sensor or sensors. If you have spark the problem is not these sensors. You could have more than one. If these fail you will have no spark, that is a good clue.there are other possibilities but I don't want them to sell you too many parts. I would make them put the old computer back and they can keep the new one as they are at fault, it didn't solve the problem. As a general rule if you have spark the engine will make some attempt to start. It may spit and sputter but will not start.

i mechanic for a living,,and did you check it to see if it was even getting any fire,or fuel before you put all of this on,,there's good chance you might not have needed this stuff, especially since it still wont run,,it sounds like you just wasted a lot of money,id check the spark ,and see if its getting a good blue spark,,then check for fuel,,there's a good chance its something really simple,it may be a bad coil pack ,making it not start,,id have it checked out real good before i spent any money on it,,guess work can be real expensive,,good luck hope this help,s.
