i heard that we need birth certificates and passports within the united states now? does anyone know anything about this.. i'm traveling at the end of this month and want to be prepared if this is the case? Thanks

Carole and Apuleuis are right, you do not need a birth certificate or passport to travel within the US. What you will need is a valid photo ID (like a drivers license) for security checks if you're over 18.

Nope, not true. You will need a passport now to get back in the country from any other country (birth certificate is no longer enough). That is the only change.

You do not need birth certificates or passports to fly within the US as long as you are here legally.
