maybe he just wants some attention. try being patiend with him and giving him a cuddle. dont get frustrated because they can sense you getting adgitated and it upsets them more. try cuddling and rocking him while your sat watching tv. try giving him a soft teddy to cuddle. if all else fails, it might not be the most pleasant answer, but maybe he needs a passifier? i hate them, and my daughter started sucking her thumb when she was about 3 months old. if i took it out of her mouth she'd put it straight back in again. i tried a dummy for a year and a half. it worked perfectly. then i took it away from her and told her i had eaten it. she tried looking under my jumper for it in my tummy and just accepted the fact that it was gone. never sucked her thumb since. he might have sucked his thumb in the womb and doesnt know thats what he needs or he might sense something isnt right, maybe you're upset or angry and he wants to take your mind off of it. i saw a programme about a baby psychic who showed that babies can remember what happened to their mum while she was pregnant, hearing voices etc and may pick up on feelings or emotions which may unsettle them and bring back that feeling.

I agree with most of what was mentioned aboce but I will add that my son went through this screaming stuff as a baby and for him it was gas. a lot and often. the only thing that helped was the Mylicon gas relief drops. He was in soo much pain and the scream were dreadful. The drop are pricey at $13 a pop but a godsend for us during that time. We'd give him the drops and within a few minute let out the gas and be back to normal. Give it a try if you see that this happens after bottles.

Ooh bless you and him. I no just where your coming from. My middle child cried all the time as well he was a very unhappy baby. I had a hard labour with him and was rushed into theatre but didn't a Cesarean in the end.
Someone recommended me to go and take him for carnisocaral (don't know if spelt that right) therapy. I thought it wouldn't work but gave it ago and I was so surprised it actually worked he was like a completely different baby, not kidding. They said it was due to him having a bad birth.

Or it must just be that he has abit of colic. There are medicines for this if it is that and they even do special bottles.

So you may either need to go to a osteopath and get carniasacral therapy or try to see if its just colic
GOOD LUCK

Oragel? Teething? If you're in Britain, ring an NHS nurse which you will find in your local phone book and they will be better equipped to advise.
They could possibly recommend a pain reliever you could buy at your pharmacy if teething is the problem.

YOu didn't say how old he is. That makes a big difference. That said, go through the "S's"--
Is he Satisfied?
Is he Sanitary?
Is he Sleepy?
Is he Sore?
If it's none of those things, maybe he is just Sad and needs to cry for a while. When it starts to stress you out, do NOT feel guilty about putting him down in the crib or swing for a while and getting out of the room. It's important to distance yourself and not get too stressed out by it. If he's crying no matter what, it's not going to hurt him if you put him down for 20 minutes.

up to 4 month, and at it's worse in month four, it could be colic. There is no medical reason for colic and most people believe it's some kind of wind. My baby suffers this; if baby is calm all day, but screams at night, pulls itself up tight into itself and goes very red, it's probably colic. Infacol or other colic drops are very effective, as is patting and rubbing babies back. Good luck.

If your baby is teething, I would recommend putting one of those plastic baby toys that's safe for him to chew on into the freezer. The cold will numb some of the pain and distract him when he chews on it. Also, babies tend to cry a lot, without a specific reason, that's why they're babies. I know some friends take thier babies for a car ride because the motion of the car is soothing.

Someone mentioned once to check their fingers and toes for a hair wound tightly around a digit. I thought that was interesting.

If you have: changed his diaper, feed him, cuddled him, taken his temperature, cuddled him, sang to him, etc and he is STILL crying then put him down and let him cry for a few minutes. He may just be overwhelmed and tired. I'm not a big fan of "cry it out" so if it goes on more then 10min or so alone then definately think about calling the ped. He may have a broken bone you don't know about.

If he could be teething you can get a gum massager at wal mart. It fits on your finger and has soft rubber things on the end of it that sooth sore gums. It was the answer to my prayers when my son was teething!

Lots of luck to you!!

bless him
try lieing him down in his cot with a cuddly blanket/teddy and put some soothing music on with just a lamp on in the room or something. he might just be tired but cant get to sleep and feels there is a need to cry for your attention to help him get to sleep

hope this helped
