Besides cooling it down, you can take some Advil (if not allergic) to help ease the pain. If you hold ice on it, be sure the ice is wrapped so it's not directly on your skin. Elevating the hand on a pillow while you fall asleep might also help. If you get a blister, DO NOT break it; it's Nature's bandaid and will help keep the wound protected.

Do NOT put any type of ointment on it. What you should do when you sustain a burn is to bring down the temperature of the burn. Put an ice cube or two in a clean towel and hold it on the site of the burn for as long as you can - preferably at least an hour. This has an amazing capacity to bring down the temperature of the burn and help with the healing.
As with every injury of this type, if it gets worse or infected please see your doctor right away.

Hi, sorry to hear about your accident. The best thing to do right now is to hold it under running cold water or put ice on it. Do not put any time of ointment on it - especially nothing that is oily based.
Once it no longer hurts, the best thing to use is a burn cream, or aloe vera to assist with the healing.

Buddy, you might have a serious burn there, a burn left untreated can become a second or third degree burn. Put it under water RIGHT NOW. It should've been done the moment the burn occurred. YOU HAVE TO STOP THE BURNING UNDER THE SKIN. Remember Milk/Water, and anything cold like, gatorade or kool -aid, NO BUTTER or anything like it.
NO ICE either, that can put you at risk of another burn, one caused by cold, besides it doesn't work as well, you need WATER!!!

i burnt my wrist not too long ago on a light bulb..
running cold water over a burn right away prevents layers of skin from burning.
after that, keep some ice, or a can of pop on it for a while. it'll burn probably for the rest of night. but cold works wonders! hope you feel better :)

This is an old remedy that worked great for me. Take some mint toothpaste and apply it to the burn. You will feel the heat coming out of it. Leave the toothpaste on it overnight.
