I don't have much stuff, a one BR with practically no furniture and I made all my own boxes. Do I tip them on the day they load or upon delivery? Or both? I am thinking both because the crew may not be the same. Should I then divide how much of the total I had planned on tipping by two and divvy it up between both days? I have never moved this far before and don't know the etiquette and would appreciate any and all answers!

No need to tip, you are paying them to move your stuff.

i am a mover. i work for a company that does a great job we are carefull and well we are just plain good and you know i dont always get a tip. here is the thing . the mover at least the guys i know dont rip you off but i have found that when there are more then 2 men in on the move say 4 guys two trucks two of the guys never get a tip .
i think it not that there was no tip all the time at least but it is that the tip was given to the guy who took the bill in he got it was told to divived it up and he just keep it all or splits it with the other guy in the truck with him .
i am not alone in thinking this.
when movers are right at the point of being done you will know and thats when you should give the tip see we all go to shake the guys hand anyway so when were all doing that give the tip so we all see it.
as for how much you a single guy not much stuff if there good
10 or 20 each. if your hard up for money just have some cold bear and everyone can have one or two of them.
we cant take the case with us but 1 or 2 beers is cool to drink before we leave.
now a rich guy moving into a place with lots of stairs and lots of stuff that we had to wrap up in blankets and other stuff we had to get up to the 3rd floor they should not even think of giving us all less then 20 bucks and a beer or two. but you know what some of the rich people dont give us anything. the ones who are doctors or say a hockey player sure but mr freaken up tight who wipes his a ss with 20's no he wont give a tip. i can tell in advance who they are.

Tip enough to cover a medium dinner and a couple beers for the crew, when they start loading their truck to leave after delivery. Smile, and say thank you, that means as much as the money. But if they break anything MAJORLY EXPENSIVE, think twice about the tip, they won't expect it and you'll ruin things for the rest of us. Best of luck on your move.

When they have finnished just in case there is something broken
The price depends on you, just remember you would have paid a bit to get the removal so they would be paid from that
