Are you under a lot of stress? Anxiety attacks are quite common and usually caused by mental stress. I'd get in to see your doctor and talk to her about what's going on. You might be able to get a prescription for an anti-anxiety drug. Needless to say, you also want to rule out any more serious heart problems.

If your chest feels tight like it has a heavy weight on it or if the pain spreads to your arm or your jaw, you could be having a heart attack. It is possible.

Take a baby aspirin immediately and call 911 if it continues longer than 5 more minutes. Time is of the essence in a heart attack.

God bless

Registered Nurse here; Pure speculation here on the Internet as to what may be causing your chest pain. Here's the very best professional advice I can offer. Take 2 Bayer aspirin now, unless you have been instructed not to due to other health problems. Go to the nearest emergency room, yes 17 is very young to have a heart condition, however it could be a murmur that is causing your pain, pulled muscle or tendon. Just to much speculation, chest pain, please go to the E.R. just to make sure it's not your heart.

A doctor told me that this could simply be indigestion, even though the pains aren't coming from the abdomen. The way I understood it, is that the pressure from the digestive tract is pushing upward causing pain elsewhere. This results in the chest pains.

Ask a doctor to be sure. This is by no means expert advice.

I suggest that you go to a doctor and have regular check ups. You can't know for sure exactly what is going on in your body unless you get it checked out.
