Has your life really improved so much?
Has it become all that the Toltec reasoning says it will?
Was it difficult at first?
Come on... Tell me all about it.

life improved? at first it seemed a night mare, all "hell" broke loose

I think it's too early to say...only 2 years

yes, we have habits

but it became a mantra my spouse didn't want to hear

lots of it is a catch 22

It appealed to me because I was already doing it mostly

but I don't wake up to it like a religion, I think I am doing some of it without thinking about it

I found being impeccable the hardest, I am sarcastic and cynical a lot...duh as if you couldn't tell...again about habbits

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

The most difficult one for me is not taking things personally. Once you understand what he is saying, it *seems* easy - but it takes time to let go of ego and do this.

I think the ideas expressed in the four agreements are not new... they seem a lot like Buddhism in some ways. But he managed to explain it in a way that was easier for me to grasp.

I would say, yes, my life improved after trying to implement them in my life.

Another good book by the same author that I recommend often is "The Mastery of Love."

He has a book of prayers as well, and I can honestly say they brought me great peace when I was in a lot of turmoil.
