That's one hell of a ride to go "to the mall". Sounds like she's a soccer mom. How much shopping do you do? DO you actually need an SUV to go shopping? Can't you settle for an S60 or S80 perhaps the new C30 would be better for a mother who wants to whip across town for shopping.

I love it! its so nice inside and has the great look on the outside too! all the way from the nice water-flowing looking lights in the back from the nice headlights that glow in the night! I think overall Volvo did a "smashing job" on it if you will. and I really like the newer ones (2009,10) because if you did not notice, the back logo is different. instead of just putting "Volvo" on the back in the middle like the 03 and up models. they now space it out giving it a more futuristic look to it! like this... V O L V O and in my opinion I think that was a good move, overall sir/ma'am. YOU HAVE A GREAT CAR! keep it up, and keep buying them' Volvo's(; and dont forget the GREAT SAFETY ON THEM!!

This Volvo has had some reliability problems in the past just as all the newer Volvos have. Do some research (as you are doing now) and consider an extended warranty. Having said all that, I think your mom would have a better experience with something smaller and less complicated.

It is a family car with 7 seats,it's great for picnics too! The 4.4l drinks a lot of fuel, but the performance is great! You may also install BSR on it for even faster acceleration, which you need to specially order from Sweden. The engine options can be a 2.5t or a 3.2 which are great for city driving.

Had one for a couple years - great little truck, but SUCKS down gas (she'll get maybe 11 MPG driving local). It is surprisingly small inside. She'll have a heck of a time parking it. We swapped out for an Audi A6 wagon and are very happy we did.

If it's got the straight 6 engine DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE!!! The engine was great but the gearbox attached to it is made out of tracing paper!!!
Has to be the later V6 or V8.

I guess you're american given the word 'mall' in the question? Do you guys get Jeremy Clarkson over there? well if you do, then fine, if you dont, google him. He bought one as his family car. I dont worship the guy, but if anyone has the access to pick a good car, it would be him.

if in or above the rust belt fine, this is an excellent snow car ..
keep the transmission serviced, and when replacing tires always in a set of four [the viscous coupling will last longer]
