Talk to your childs pediatrition this could be a sign that something is wrong. A 14 month old should be sitting on her own no problem by now and about the crawling, some babies never crawl, they go right to walking! Good Luck!

My baby was a preemie and he is now nine months old and he doesn't sit by himself yet. The day before yesterday the doctor recommended that we take him to a sort of therapist to stimualte him; I'm waiting for the appointment.
What I did was buy another stroller in which he has to sit up instead of slouch down and it's got toys so that he will try to reach for them. I tried it today and he reached out a few minutes; so I hope that helps him. I'm also sitting him in his high chair pushed all the way to the front to get him used to that position.
That's what I'm doing, at least! Check with the pediatrician, maybe he'll have some suggestions for you.

My son is the same age, not crawling, also difficulties sitting without assistance. He wants to stand most of the time, but isn't yet ready to walk. I have Early Intervention working with him (free in NE area) and an Occupational Therapist works on helping him to strengthen his core (abdominal area). Your daughter may have stronger back muscles than front muscles and may need some help from an OT or PT. Does she try to get around on her back, kicking off with her feet? Does she bend her legs at the knees? She may just have some weakness in her muscles and this can be easily addressed. Also, some babies don't crawl at all and walk at 18 mos :) email me if you'd like

Get a walker, this helps with that problem and balance.
When u sit the child on the sofa put a pillow on both sides so she wont roll from side to side or a stuff animals on each side.
this is normal for some babies at this age.

What did the Dr. say at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 month check ups? was she early? If your Dr. doesn't seem like it's a problem, then schedule an apt with a specialist. all kids are different, and wonderful no matter what. Good luck.

YOu should seek help immediately. I would call start by calling your local elementary school and telling them you need the number for the correct office at the school district for having your baby assessed. They will set you on the right trail. I got therapy for my non-walking daughter at 18 months through my local school district and they were wonderful. The therapist came to my house once a week and it really helped. It was 3 months from the first phone call to the first therapy session, though, because of delays, people's vacations, red tape, etc, so I would call TOMORROW. It is not normal for your daughter to not be able to do these things, regardless of her ability to lock her legs and stand. By the way, this was at the advice of my pediatrician.

It doesn't sound exactly right for a 14 month old not to be sitting up. I really think this is something you should check with your doctor about.

I would definately make an appointment with her pediatrician. That was a milestone she should have reached about 6 months ago, at least. I hesitate to make any further guesses or suggestions. Make the appointment as soon as possible.
Please keep up updated!

Have you taken her to a doctor ? BY now she should be walking. Have you tryed having her sit down on her knees next to something soft and small enough so you can either push herself up every now and then. Standing isnt that big a deal...babies 3 months old can stand with the help of a adult.
Have you been active with her?

most 14 month old babies are running around like rabbits. I am concerned for her health that you would wait this long to be concerned. My sons were very slow to talk although that is extremely typical in my family, but they were running around at 14 months. my daughter was talking at 1 yr, and also potty trained herself. and none of them are savants, just normal kids!!
