I want to fly my dogs with me as cargo. They are Malinois. I know it's stressfull on them but it is more stressfull for them to be left here while I'm gone for 2 months. Frontier is the best but its service doesnt start untill May. Delta doesn't do live pets into Vancouver. Neither does Alaska Air - I was going to drive to DFW and go from there. ?????????????????

Alaska/Horizon doesnt go into Canada. I usually leave them at a kennel but they generally don't eat when I'm gone. 2 months is too long.Yes, they are Houdinis and it will be tough to contain them. I have to go to help my kids. Thats a heck of a drive SA to Van!

To be honest, I would just drive if at all possible. Malinois are such a high energy breed (at least mine are) that it would be extremely stressful to ship them, plus it probably will cost at least $400 a dog to ship them plus the cost of your plane ticket. Also, my Malinois will freak out if they get really scared or stressed and if they are in the cargo and they get out of their crates (mine can bite through a plastic crate and get out in about 15 minutes) and if they get out they could really get hurt. I know that it is a lot of driving, but I personally would rather do that than have anything bad happen to one of my dogs.

can you fly out of Houston or Dallas?

try Air Canada
http://www.aircanada.com/cargo/en/services/faq.html
(won't be cheap though)

oh -- my mistake..
apparently AC doesn't fly Texas to Van.. only to Calgary (which is driveable, or you could do a connector.. only an hour flight..

your OTHER option might be to drive to LA or Vegas(forgive me if this sounds ridiculous doesn't look to be much more that a day's drive on a map) from LA or Las Vegas there are LOTS of options to Van..There's a good inexpensive Cdn liner called WestJet that can take you from either of those cities for pretty cheap.

I live in Van, and am a dog owner
hit me up directly if I can help

Did Alaska Air change its policies? They used to fly dogs. They had one of the best track records of the airlines.

There are some services that specialize in transporting dogs. Google for it.
