Wondering why I've had 3 hairstylists say Pantene is horrible..ruins/dries out hair..contains the same ingredients as FLOOR WAX!? I think it's because they get a commission for selling salon products and they know Pantene is just as good and cheaper, too, so they slam it.

Honestly, I've been using pantene my whole life and I have gorgeous, healthy hair. It is extremely shiny and long and healthy even though I straighten it with a flat iron at least 3 times a week. I think that pantene is a great shampoo and many people that complement me on my hair try it and love it. Don't listen to hairstylists they probably just want to make money.

Pantene dries out my hair and I refuse to use it. I've run a few tests in which I switch back to Pantene after using another shampoo, and without fail, Pantene made my hair stiff and I hated it. So maybe it's in addition to the hairstylers' commission, but I would agree that it's nowhere close to being a good shampoo/conditioner.

A lot of shampoos and conditioners, including pantene, contain silicone, which is also an ingredient in floor wax. This leaves a coating on the hair, which makes it shiny, but over time this leaves a build up. I personally don't like priducts that leave anything in my hair, but as far as I know it doesn't actually cause any problems. If you're not sure, use a clarifying shampoo once a month to remove any build up.

absolutely not!! Pantene is really terrible for your hair...and I'm getting no commission for this answer lol. If these people can sell the shampoo to you for a few bucks and make a profit-how cheap do you think the ingredients are?? They are super harsh sulfates that dry out your hair, and they do have a something really waxy in them that coats your hair. Not sure why people confuse this with "softness" but it's terrible!!!!!

*most stylist's only make a very very small commission off of the products you buy-they are just trying to make it easier for them, cuz they have to clarify, deep condition, comb through, and maybe even color that tangly waxed mess everytime someone comes in who uses that crap : )

I use Pantene & have no problems with it. In fact, I've had hairstylists recommend it to me over Tressame, Garnier & Loreal. They slam the cheap stuff because a lot of hairstylists get a kickback/commission on the salon stuff like Paul Mitchell, Joico, etc, if you buy it from them.

I also use a daily clairifying shampoo to rid my hair of hairspray, spray gel or whatever other junk my hair picks up daily. I use Suave's Daily Clarifying shampoo. I get it for less than $1.50 for a big bottle of it at Wal-Mart or Target.

Like beautylover says in her answer, I too get tons of compliments on my hair.

Pantene DOES work. It's not going to work overnight or even in a few days. It takes a few weeks for results to show up. I've used it for several years. My hair is soft, shiny, healthy looking & I don't have very many tangles either. My hair is long, below my bra hooks too. I shower & wash my hair 3-4 days a week, also using Clairol's Herbal Essences' Leave In conditioning spray.

I keep my hair trimmed every 6-7 weeks to ensure healthier hair & remove the split ends that may have come up. If I can't afford to go have my hair cut, I let my mother cut it for me. A few times it's gotten shorter than I wanted but I don't care & it'll grow back.

WOW, I was thinking about this today!

I had a hairdresser recommend a product that she SWORE by. She used it constantly and it was sold in the shop where she worked. She inadvertently admitted (right before I bought the product) that she never used it.

I kept using Pantene after that!

Pantene didn't do a thing for my hair. A friend of a friend (isn't it always the way?) had her hair "ruined" by it.

Different strokes for different folks.
