i think it probably means something like if you look at something one way, and over analyze it, you're looking at it wrong, and that you need to be open to other ideas

I guess this interpretation is as good as anyone's....
"seeing things straight" does not mean you are seeing the truth, but rather you are seeing it like most people see it, which may or not be the "truth". So when it says the seeing may be "bent" when examined closely, means you find out that what you thought was "straight" or true, is actually a lie. To quote Bob Dylan, "All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie". In summary, the quote means not to assume that all you were taught as a child is actually true. In my life, I find that it takes a whole lot of investigation to actually EVER know the "truth". Most of what we think is "true", IS NOT!

Everything is not what they seem. Magicians have built a career on that statment. When you drive in certain neighborhoods you get a feel of what kind of lives are being lead but, if opened the door to any one of those houses you might find imperfections inside. Any object can look flawed or completely opposite of what if appears if you disect it and take the time to look at it more closely.

I think that "reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul" is to find the answer by trying hard on what you want. The second verse means that you have to work hard on the dream that you want to be reality. Set plans ahead of time, then it will soon be your goals.

something may appear straight from far away but in reality can be bent. like pixels on an image. you are not looking at a picture of your friends but at millions of tiny squares making up that picture.

Every one has their own point of view. when you tell someone they are seeing straight it is because you agree with them. you have an understanding. but it doesn't mean that you are seeing things as they really are. Maybe you are just justifying it.

Maybe it's like, "don't judge a book by it's cover". Look closely at things becuase they "might not always be as they first seem"

Things aren't always what they seem. They may seem like a good thing but when you take a closer look they aren't as good as you originally thought.

Read between the lines your friend wants to be more than a friend.

I think it means that something can look good at first, but if you go with your gut, something might turn out bad
