If you come back 20 years later, could you still get a transcript? do they keep physical copies or are they stored in computers?

Depends on the school district or state laws. Some have a 4 year available policy, which means your transcripts must be easily available for 4 years after graduation. Others have up to a 10 year available period, it just depends. Usually they may have a longer period of storing them where they're not readily available but can be retrieved if necessary.

I don't know if there's a national law or not, but you can bet with this No Child Left Behind crap (I'm an educator, trust me, the NCLB has been thouroughly screwed up) they're keeping records a lot longer now, so they can monitor progress over a longer length of time. Besides, with computer technology, it's very easy to save an entire graduating class' transcripts and information on a cd or dvd and just put it in the album for reference later or store it on the server.

well a few years ago i went to my uncles high school to get his transcript and they had it but kept at another place and he graduated 20+ years ago. So you just need to stop at the school and ask and they can tell you where they keep the records.
