If all you made is $4890 this year and your wife didn't make any, you might not have to file at all. But if you had withholding you should file to get them back.

FL doesn't not have state income tax. So your didn't have any state tax withholding.

How much you will get back will depend on how much your withholding was. Go to the H&R Block tax calculator to help you figure it out.

Best wishes.

If that is all the income you made all year, you will get back 100% of the federal taxes you paid as well as 100% of state taxes. Since you probably did not get your W2 yet, you can check the total taxes paid for the year on your last paysub in December. That should be exactly what you get back.

How in the world can a family of 4 live off less than 5000 a year is my question?

You could qualify for earned income credit or child tax credit. Seek the advice of a professional.
