It may hurt once the numbness wheres off so especially in the injection site, and the tooth itself. Take some nurofen or panadol (wotever you can take) Iboprophin (nurofen) is usually better for dental pain but make sure you arent allergic to it. The numbness usually gone by about 3-5 hours if you are still numb in the morning call dentist or doctor.

Registered Nurse here; Well Dear, it depends on weather the dentist used a short acting numbing medication or a long acting numbing medication. Short acting feeling should start returning within 3 or 4 hours, and can take up to 6 to 8 for full feeling to return. Long acting last up to 48 hours. Most likely when the feeling returns you will have some pain, hopefully it will not be intense, and Tylenol or ibuprofen will control it. If the density felt you would have moderate to severe pain, I'm sure he would have given you a prescription for pain medication.

it should start coming back anytime now. It will only hurt if you have spent the last three hours unwittingly biting yourself.

Could be a little while longer, be patient, and don't eat yet if you might chew your tongue. Best of luck.

And be careful if you eat anything.... it is very easy to bite yourself if you are not careful.
