There's an office in the Pentagon that deals with these requests. Your Representative or Senators can assist you in getting replacements.

If you have access to his records, take them to your local recruiter. He will be able to point you in the right direction, probably to someone that handles military records. If you are allowed to shop at a military base, then you can buy them at the uniform shop, as people need to replace medals and ribbons on a regular basis. Most people never actually wear the original, it will stay in it's little box, and they will purchase a second one to wear with their uniforms. Also, look for a military surplus store, especially near a base, because a lot of them have access to some of the same vendors that the government uses for their uniform items.

I really don't know if anyone besides the veteran himself can request replacement medals, but you can contact the appropriate office at the link shown below and ask them.

If it's possible, then you may have to provide them with a copy of his DD Form 214, which is his discharge form. It would also list whatever decorations he was entitled to.

In your fathers documents there should be a DD-214, which is a discharge paper. On it should be awards and qualifications he earned during his service. You must start with this first unless you have the certificates for them. One you have this info, you can request replacement awards through the respective branch of service.

you can write to his branch of service and explain what it is you are trying to do. There is a govt office that handles your type of request.
Also, contact your Congressman, they do this stuff all the time.
Also, I thank you for your father's service to our Nation!
Good Luck!
