If I purchase a income tax software program, must I go to some type of approved office to electronically sign my return?

Or, is everything in the software?

There are two ways to sign an electronic return. One is by creating a 5 digit pin number and the other way is to fill out and mail IRS tax form 8453-OL.

When creating the pin number, the IRS will have you verify your identity by first supplying your adjusted gross income from your (and your spouse if applicable) prior year return (if you did not file then it would be 0) as well as your date of birth.

If this is not a possibility for whatever reason then you will use F 8453 which you will print out and actually sign and mail to the designated address for your state. It also requires that you fill out certain information about your current year return. Once received, your return is considered complete.

Creating a pin number is not an option for a first-time filer who is under the age of 16 in 2006 and for those filing certain other tax forms. See the links below for more information.

She has 7 days to resubmit the return or to print and mail it and nonetheless be on time. If she chooses to print and mail, she could connect a replica of the rejection word from the IRS or the ERO that she filed by way of. No effects are due if she is getting a reimbursement.

You do not have to go anywhere. The program will explain how to do it. It's very easy. I find that Turbo Tax is the best and you can e-file from there as well.
