My best friend had a dog named Piffany and she totally screwed up on her part as being the caretaker. She never took her dog to the vet. not even once! She's going to get rid of her dog cause she's bored with it and because the dog digs up holes in the dirt. She doesnt know anything about her dog-she doesn't even know what breed it is! Her brother and sister don't even care for the dog-the brother like to spray the dog with the garden hose while the dog is resting, and th parents dont even take care of the dog. My friend is the only one who brushes it, and they dont trim it's nails and take it to the groomer. The dog is not licensed! and she's a backyard breeder!!! She's selling (thank god the poor dog won't suffer) the dog, which is good, but she's getting a new dog. How do I politely tell her,"DONT GET A DOG!!!"

This is a tough situation for you as an animal lover and as her friend. I have found myself in similar situations several times. If she is able to receive constructive criticism, I would be blunt with her. Simply tell her how you feel. She most likely won't take your advice, but maybe she'll be a more responsible pet owner knowing you'll be watching.
You're a good person to care :)

You can mention it to her, but you may not have a friend anymore.

No reputable breeder or rescue organization will give her a dog, so she will probably go to a bad source.

If the dog is being abused and neglected, call animal control on them. Detail what they do to the dog.

And lose this friend. Anyone with so little respect for animals cannot be trusted and has serious issues. You don't need someone like that.

Tell Piffany (is that her real name!?) that she is "not a good dog mother" and she not get another dog. Explain that dogs must be walked, bathed, provided with clean water several times a day. The dog should live in the house, not outside.

You can report her to SPCA or ASPCA, depending on which one is in your city, if the conditions for the dog are poor.

Ya know a call to your local ASPCA might put a fire under them to take care of the dog, learn to care for dogs and possibly not get another dog.

Sorry but I think you should just tell her straight out she is a bad owner and should not get a dog.
