DOZER, I have this to say.

First, thank you for your service.

Everyone says that America right now is a dictatorship, courtesy of the Patriot Act. No, a dictatorship is when a "President" calls in Congress and has almost all of them arrested on the spot, to be executed the following day, with the executioners being the less-than-willing remaining congressmen the President spared.

And if any holy men should protest this on religious grounds, they would get their facial hair set on fire while nails are hammered into their foreheads.

That's what "President " Saddam did. Now THAT sounds like a dictatorship.

I doubt we'll ever hear of him doing that again.

And make no mistake, NOBODY could have handled this very tough insurgency as long as we have. Considering how stretched the Army is (and has been for more than a decade), it is nothing short of miraculous. Any UN "peacekeeping" force would have bailed in less than a year.

as a disabled vet with over 20 years in the service, I agree totally with you , even tho you didn't say it I feel you were AlSO asking why we didn't do any thing about our ship being attacked by so called friendly forces, America is the strongest nation in the world, and we do have the most freedom that so many don't appreciate, but they will when it is lost and at the rate we are losing our freedom , it won't be long, our gov, has let a segment of our society get to strong and they are dictating policy, and eroding American freedom and resources and will kick us in the teeth if once we are down, I find it so ironic that so many people are so brain washed and will believe any thing our liberal media prints, when it is so obviously lies to support our enemy's

I served as well, and continue to do so. I feel that you error when you speak of the freedoms we have including the freedom of opinion and speech, yet you call the same people who exercise those freedoms "unamerican." You contradict yourself with that statement.

A person that speaks out against the way the Executive, Legislative, or Judicial Branch of our Government is as American as the next person. No Government can survive without significant oversight, and separation of powers. This insures that ALL of our rights are protected in EVERY way possible, including through the use of the military when needed. Without separation of power and oversight, we will be forced to accept whatever rights our Government and Military tell us we can have.

You served because you knew it was the right thing to do. You were right. Fighting terrorism over there is better than fighting it over here any day.

I think Saddam exported all the weapons of mass destruction out of Iraq before we arrived. I expect our troops to keep the terrorists distracted and off-balance. Let's hope the Iraqis can do that after we leave.

Thank you for all that you've done.

Do you have any idea how many of us have "served" in the various wars we have gotten involved in? Only the Republican leadership, almost to a man, has never "served." Cheney had five, count 'em, five deferments to avoid service. But he sent you to "serve" none-the-less.

Korea was my war, and I enlisted, but I don't blovate about it. I have one friend who was shot down in a B-17 in 1944, and escaped to Spain, but he never mentions it. I am in an honor guard with one man who limps along beside me because he legs are full of Vietnamese shrapnel, but he never talks of it. What the hell is it with this "all volunteer army" and the "I served" thing.

Anyone who volunteers, volunteers for all that follows and needs to accept it as part of his contract without parading about. The poor bastard who is drafted, and never wanted to serve, he has some bragging rights if he survives, cause he didn't volunteer for a leg full of shrapnel, he was made to accept it.

Do what has to be done, and leave the speeches to the men who started the conflict and need to defend it.

Yes I am proud of you for serving your Country, and this is one reason you did.
";To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public" -- Theodore Roosevelt

1st Thanks for your service, those who rant and rave about how bad it is would never make the sacrifices you have. Take pride in knowing you gave them that right to express there bias and bitterness. I wonder if they would whine as much say if they were in a country with no freedoms....
