I take only methadone, for chronic nerve pain to my legs. Methadone itself can cause someone' to nod off. Espe I ally if there not doi g anything and r just sitting around. If the clinics could split up the doses thru out the day ( which they won't, to expensive to keep enough staff there) ur dad and others wouldn't get such a heavy hit at one time. That would help a lot with the modding off. If he would get up and DO stuff, this kind of goes away, Until....... He sits back down for a time. If he ONLY taking the done, the nods should wear off after about 7 hrs. He will still get the effect of not wanting heroin .l Yes, Xanax and methadone is a killer dose. But this would show up on his UAs. Good luck, go easy on him, the point of methadone treatment is also about getting addicts OFF the street, not to be always drug seeking, scamming, stealing so they can support there habit. THAT IS A BIG DEAL, JUST DOING THAT. Heroin is seductive, the whole icky life style. Give him a pat on the back for showing up everyday. Eventually, hopefully, his mind will clear a little, hope will want to, and feel like doing more with his life, since now he doesn't have to spend ALL DAY thinking about how to get the money, and the dope to get his next fix, to avoid horrible withdrawal. Really! That is all they think about when using H. Now he doesn't have To spend all day doing that . Give him the time he needs, to adjust to living this way. Tell him about the positive changes u see in him. Do that often. I know it's hard to believe ANTHING an addict says. Encourage to go for a walk with you, or some other ACTIVE thing besides sitting around and enjoying the nod. Remind him, that heroin is only sposednto to keep him from having withdrawals, so that now he can do other fun things in life

My question is this? Do the doctors know about each other and what each of them are prescribing? Probably not! This is extremely dangerous and she could actually end up in the hospital with an overdose. Even though Methadone is commonly given to heroine addicts, it is also prescribed for people to "come down" off of other narcotics, too. I am on Methadone, but that is because I have been on Fentanyl Patches and Hydrophone due to severe complications from major back surgery. My doctor is trying to get me off of all the other narcotics I am on. Methadone cannot be combined with other medications unless it is closely monitored by a doctor! It is extremely dangerous! Please, talk to a doctor or go with her to the next appointment she has and demand to talk to her doctor and tell him what she is taking from the other doctor. Best of luck to her! She sounds like she really needs it!

I will say yes to that. I have a friend that is on methadone and she told me that people that want to die mix the two together.
And another thing, I take Xanax, prescribed by my doctor, and Xanax is very addictive. I always have to make sure, also that my other medications, will not cross with Xanax.

they are bad to mix. xanax is addictivie too. MIxing the 2 is bad, she has to get off of all pills, try 12 step programs if she is serious. Its when you keep using pills like xanax and methadone that it is a half assed try. but bc the methadone is controlled for her dosage that she probably cant use too much of that. But too much xanax and it will be a big prob. Lortabs are opiates (hydrocodone 10/500's) and NOT speed, they are opiates like heroin BTW.

She may have gotten her hands on some oxycotin. This is a very powerful and very addictive pain killer. I have seen those symptoms in an addicted friend when he snorted 80 mg. It is an opiate like methadone, but the physical effects are greater.
