Use the best bait for a start, and that can only be a live roach or rudd, or a fresh frozen one. Use a sunken float just under the surfice and fish the bait just off bottom, with a 1 - 2 oz weight holding the whole lot straight in the water. If the fish is dead give the bait a slow pull down and let the float rise back up to position the bait again. Iv drawn a pic of the rig i use in the lake or river, tight lines. This has won many a 50p bet. click on link.

A "Len Thompson five a diamonds". Also called "The Lure of the North". Yellow with red or black diamonds are killer. The bigger the Pike, the bigger the spoon. I have fished small sloughs, river & stream mouths, and Lake Athabasca in the NWT. We caught a 40 pounder that was 52 inches long using a #6 five a diamonds, dragging it behind the boat in late june. 1 week after ice break up.

I'd use a black musky bucktail spinner, a suick jerkbait(12 inch) , a musky jitterbug(topwater) or a musky tally wacker(topwater) or all of them.
Make sure the water is calm though for the topwater lures.
A 12 inch rapala would work very good too. Fish just off a weed bed in about 15 feet of water. Use a musky pole and baitcasting reel with 30lb. line and a 9 inch leader or 8 inch.
You can go to: "thornebros.com", they would have all that you would need.
Or go to: "muskyshop.com".
My friend Josh has caught around 5 muskys this year on his black bucktail spinner.
And be patient, you aren't going to catch one on the first cast!!!

Try a bit of Roach fishing and use one of them as live bait. Nothing can beat a live bait mounted on 2 treble hooks. THINK - What is a Pike's natural food? - a fish in distress.

According to the master fisherman, my nine year old son, "Get a two inch spinner with a leader and cast it out above the weeds or at the edge of the weed bed and reel it in fast enough to keep it spinning."
