I have been trying out a new 2006 model Corsa, I have driven Corsa's before, and the Astra, which were alll fine. And I once owned a Cavalier.
But I am not impressed with this one at all. It's a three cylinder engine, and sounds awful to me. It is also has a cheap and plastic feeling to it. It smells of glue and the door mirrors are too small, the glovebox is tiny, the controls feel cheap and tacky and the indicators are fiddly. It is very boring.

I have a Fiat Punto from 1994 and it's still perfect, without any problem. the mileage is 95,000 kms and so I think it's nothing bad for a compact car. Here in Italy Rovers have a bad name cause of their electrical problems and so I can't suggest you to buy it. The Vauxhall Astra (which is Opel Astra here, I presume) it's a good german car, even if the design isn't a masterwork and the car hasn't so much more quality inside than the Punto. Besides, the Astra you would buy hadn't too much accessories... Anyway, at the end I think that Punto or Astra should be the best choice.

Here here, although I would like to extend that to all cars built by GM Motors. I had nearly 30 cars now as I like to chop and change regularly, my 3rd was a Rover that was unreliable but then it only cost £190 so who cares!!! My only 2 other unreliable cars have been a Vauxhall Omega, poor to drive, felt like it weighed more than the moon, then blew the engine to bits doing 30MPH in 4th gear (no pressure), and a Volvo S80 (also GM) that blew its gearbox out after 300miles (then the garage i bought it off went bankrupt!!). I've had my last GM car, and I hope Osama Bin Laden lives long enough to deal with them!!!!
