Homophobe
Homo-singular, as in same sex or gay, derived from homosexual

phobe- hatred or fear, as in phobia

So homophobes hate guys just like homosexuals desire same sex relationships, it's the definiton.

Isn't a homophobe like two words that sound the same and are spelled the same but have two different meanings.

Like fruitcake (a gay man) and fruitcake (a cake with fruit in it).

That would fit the definition of the word. However, a person can feel that homosexuality is a sin without hating homosexuals themselves.
