If your dog has ingested any of these foods, get veterinary help immediately
Grapes and Raisins: Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs. As little as a single serving of raisins can kill a dog
Onions: Onions destroy red blood cells and can cause anemia.
Chocolate: Chocolate can cause seizures, coma and death. Baker’s chocolate is the most dangerous.
In other words, Call a vet ASAP- dd
FYI to avoid this in the future:
Coffee, Coffee grounds, tea and tea bags: Drinks/foods containing caffeine cause many of the same symptoms chocolate causes
Macadamia Nuts: Macadamia nuts can cause weakness, muscle tremor and paralysis.
Animal fat and fried foods: Excessive fat can cause pancreatitis.
Bones: Bones can splinter and damage a dog’s internal organs.
Tomatoes: Tomatoes can cause tremors and heart arrhythmias. Tomatoe plants and the most toxic, but tomatoes themselves are also unsafe.
Avocados: The fruit, pit and plant are all toxic. They can cause difficulty breathing and fluid accumulation in the chest, abdomen and heart
Nutmeg: Nutmeg can cause tremors, seizures and death
Apples, Cherries, Peaches and similar fruit: The seeds of these fruits contain cyanide, which is poisonous to dogs as well as humans. Unlike humans, dogs do not know to stop eating at the core/pit and easily ingest them.
Raw eggs: Raw eggs can cause salmonella poisoning in dogs. Dogs have a shorter digestive tract than humans and are not as likely to suffer from food poisoning, but it is still possible.
Salt: Excessive salt intake can cause kidney problems.
Hi Anna, what size is your dog? Toxic levels are dependedent on the weight of the dog. Can you re-post and let us know if he is ok? thnx- dd

Grapes or bananas would both give him a tummy ache - bad. Grapes want out the back and bananas won't let anything out of the poor guy. Call a vet and ask the secretary what to do. Promise you will bring him in if her advice does not work or whatever and that way you will get a "fix" without haveing to pay for an appointment.

Grapes are toxic to dogs. So is chocolate.
Why would you feed fruit to a puppy that should be on a puppy food diet? You should have your vet check your puppy right away.
I strongly believe dogs and cats should eat an all natural food diet, but puppies need special nutrition for proper growth and health.
I recommend you check with your vet or go to a natural food pet store and seek the help of pet food consultants who are trained and knowledged in optimum pet health.
Please don't start your puppy off on bad eating habits that will cause medical problems for life..your little best friend deserves the best start in his life that you can provide.

Grapes are toxic to dogs. So, don't feed your dog grapes any longer. Call your vet and tell them what has been happening and the symptoms your dog is experiencing. It may be an emergency, but hopefully your vet will tell you to try Pepto Bismo. Let your vet know about the tummy noises as well. Anything you can tell them can help them determine the best treatment necessary. Bananas are okay as long as you don't overdo it. I only give my dogs a small bite or two of banana.
Please call your vet ASAP.

First dogs have a very robust digestive system. The weird noises are probably just air in his digestive tract, it's like when your stomach rumbles.
Dogs prefer meat and their digestive system isn't built to handle fruit and vegetables well. But they can and do eat fruit and vegetables. And both do give them nutritional value, but their system is incapable of digesting vegetable material completely as humans.
So there are some "leftovers" in his system that are undigested and how can I put this delicately, it will sort itself when the material reaches the south end of a northbound dog.
Grapes and raisins are not toxic to dogs unless they eat over a pound or so. If he ate three or four grapes or raisins, there is no need for concern. Despite some recent ridiculous articles, dogs eat grapes in France and Greece when they are out and about all the time and the do not die horrible deaths.

Although many dog owners and dog trainers have traditionally used raisins and grapes as treats, RAISINS AND GRAPES IN LARGE QUANTITIES CAN BE LETHAL TO DOGS. As few as a handful of raisins or grapes can make a dog ill; however, of the 10 cases reported to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC), each dog ingested between 9 ounces and 2 pounds of grapes or raisins.
If your dog has ingested large quantities of raisins or grapes, (s)he will immediately begin to vomit repeatedly, and will become extremely hyperactive and jittery. After about 24 hours, the dog will become lethargic and depressed. (S)he may experience abdominal pain and may stop urinating, drinking, and/or eating. (S)he will also become dehydrated. Both his/her vomit and feces will contain partially digested raisins or grapes. His/her breathing may become irregular, and (s)he will also become hypercalcemic (high calcium concentrations) and hyperphosphosphatemic
Ultimately, without treatment, the dog will go into renal (kidney) failure, and may die a horrible very painful death. Of the 10 reported cases, only 5 dogs survived, & these only with early, aggressive, & long-term treatment.

If there is no way you can get ahold of a vet now, give her a tea spoon of peroxide. If she doesn't throw up in 15 minutes, give her another. Keep trying to reach the vet. Even small amounts of grapes have killed dogs. They are one of the worst things there are for dogs.

That is a large amount. Stop feeding your dog grapes. If the dog does that again then I prefer you to go to the vet.

Please don't listen to the Moron League!!
FACT...grapes ARE toxic and WILL cause long term health problems, including renal failure. STOP feeding your dog grapes!
The affects will not show up until old age. Your dog will have enough health problems as a senior. Do you really want to add to that?
Go to the ASPCA Poison Control Center web site or www.petpoisonhelpline.com . You can also call (US) 1-800-213-6680 for emergencies in the future (It's the pet poison control hotline, 24/7).
