Your question is a good one. If he was merely a human, religious leader, than very little makes him better than any other. It is true, he died a horrible, shameful death with the idea that it would save other people. If he was just a religious leader, that would certainly make him special: David Koresh, Dan Barker, or Mohammad haven't done that.

However, he's not - he was, and is, the only begotten son of God, God in human flesh. That completely takes him out of the realm of mere religious leaders. Was he a religious leader? Yes, certainly - but so much more - infinitely more, in fact.

As for being a copy of Horus - the person who said that reads too much Till and Harpur and ignores actual scholars. A cursory reading of the respective stories of Jesus and Horus shows that for the laughably simplistic idea it is.

He is the light of the world as well as the resurrection and life.He is the Judge the Master, the High Priest. He is the Lord of Lords, the Almighty,He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the Shepherd and Bishop of souls, and He is the wonderful counsellor. He is the head of the Church and the Chief Cornerstone,He is the rock.He is the living water, the Rose of Sharon, and the True Vine.He is our Redeemer, the Servant, and our Master.
He is the almighty.
He is the Everlasting Father.
He is the Alpha and the Omega.
HE IS THE MESSIAH.
I believe that all this and more is what makes Jesus the Christ unique. Actually more..much more than just plain unique.

Jesus is followed closely by his disciples unlike others.

Jesus being the head of the congregation has a religion that does not participate in wars, unlike other killing even the innocent or others who belong to the same religion that they do. They follow Jesus' instruction Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.—Matt. 26:52.

Jesus' followers hold true what Jesus said : “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:34, 35)

Jesus' followers obey him when he said: “It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.” (Matthew 4:10)

Jesus' followers accept him as God’s means of salvation. The Bible says: “There is no salvation in anyone else, for there is not another name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved.” (Acts 4:12) “He that exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; he that disobeys the Son will not see life.”—John 3:36.

Jesus preached when he was a man so does his followers. Jesus foretold: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14) Instead of encouraging people to look to human rulers to solve their problems, true followers of Jesus Christ proclaim God’s heavenly Kingdom as the only hope for mankind. (Psalm 146:3)

Who are the originators of religions? Jesus, Mohamed, Buddha. Sorry can't think of any others off hand with a single originator.

I guess it would be the whole son of god thing. And I'm sure his teachings were unique. As CS Lewis said, he was either the son of god or he was a charlatan who got exactly what he deserved.

He is God's son who came down to earth and lived a sinless life. He died on the cross at calvary as a subsitute for all our sins. this pleased God and now we have lives. Jesus loves us all even if we dont love Him. But He wants us all to love He wants to be in our lives. Christ is our salvation. If you accept Him into your life you will go to Heaven.

Methinks one reason is because conquered people with words instead of swords and bloodshed. He never claimed anything except being the Son of God. And as far as religious people in the world, J.C. had a huge following yet he did not once abuse or corrupt them, nor bleed their pockets.

I don't know that I would classify him as a religious leader as that sounds like a human role. He was called by some the Son of God. Surely this is higher level than say, the Pope or Billy Graham?

He had at his disposal, thousands of angels, each higher than himself while he was on earth as a man,and in a humble way didn't put on a showy display of power.Remember these angels were very powerful as compared to man.NOTE --Good point Nikki,,

Comparing Jesus to other religions leaders (ex: Budda), Jesus is the only God who is still living. He died and rose again to new life. No other non-Christain religions have that.
