you don't
you don't go near him

It depends. If you are close friends with her, you have to base this on how close she was to him. If it wasn't a major thing, just ask her about it. You might even say, "James keeps flirting with me...he's kinda cute, but I don't know...." and see how she reacts. If she gets mad, and you don't want to press the issue, just tell her, "I know, what a pig!!" If she doesn't seem to mind, ask her what she would think about you two hanging out sometime. From personal experience I can tell you that USUALLY when friends date friend's Ex's, the friends usually drift apart. Then if the relationship doesn't work out, you're left with no guy and no friend.

I'm sorry to say, but ex-boyfriends of best friends are off limits. If she's not a friend and just someone you knew, then it would be fine. There are so many other guys out here to not date your friends ex. I wouldn't risk it. You have to ask yourself what you value most, you guys friendship or a fling with her ex.

You don't tell her, that's how. Ex-boyfriends are hands off. It's etched in stone somewhere I think.

1)you open your mouth and talk to her

2)if she is a good friend she will listen

3) if you have a good friendship the conversation will not ruin that friendship

first you ask her if she still has feelings for him. if she says no, you ask her if dating him is okay with her. if she says yes, your pretty much screwed
