I about freaked. But when my friend and I looked closer, it looked like seeds. What seeds, however, I don't know. I have nothing like that around here. It was on her butt only and wiped off. Nothing was moving like a bug. Neither of my other 2 cats had it. I see nothing in the litter pan and she is very active and is eating and drinking just fine.

Could she have sat on something or am I overlooking worm larvae or something??

It sounds like your kitty has tape worm ( looks like small off white/yellow rice that sticks to their butt and the area around their butt).

The vet will give you a pill that will clear it right up, but you need to make sure that you put your cats on Flea Preventive, that is the life cycle of the the tapeworm, tapeworm eggs hatch into larva inside the flea, which is ingested by the cat or dog when the flea irritates the pet, and the tapeworms life begins in its new host (your pet).

The little rice like things stuck on your pets butt, are packages of tapeworm eggs in a protected cacoon like pkg. The flea ingests this, and the eggs hatch in the flea, mean while the flea jumps back on to your pet, irritates him and get eaten by the cat or dog, and the cylce continues on and on.

Cats are more commonly seen with tapeworms primarily because they enjoy hunting rodents, in which many times they are infested with fleas, and while the cat eats his prize for the night, the fleas from the rat infected with tapeworm larve inside, jump onto to the kitty, and begins the cycle all over on a new host.

That is why its important to put your pet on a flea preventive, like Frontline Plus or Advantix (Top products).

The only way you will get Tapeworm that your pet might have is if you ingest a flea who has ingested a tapeworm egg pkg. So chances are slim of you getting your cats tapeworm as long as you controll the flea population.

Probably dingleberries....very common in cats (especially if it's a long haired cat). Anyhow, what happens is the poop, urine & litter get mixed and creates little "balls" or sometimes "seed looking things" that hang around the behind. You can either cut them off or they eventually fall off. It's ok....it happens all the time.

She has got tapeworms. They look like small grains of rice. You can get medicine from your vet. You can also go to Petsmart and get dewormer....I think it cost me about $25.00 when I bought it a while back.

TAPEWORMS!!!

They are DRIED tapeworm segments!!! Your cat can get them usually from fleas, but also from eating vermin. Treat for fleas and tapeworm, or you will find them ALL OVER!!!
