Yes, because one leads to two leads to three leads to ... well, you get the idea. Pretty soon you are a pack and a half a day smoker with bad teeth, bad breath, wrinkles who smells bad.

Smoking is bad for you full stop. Granted the less you smoke the longer it'll take to affect you, but it will affect you. Emphysema is something that is caused by smoking and usually lays dormant for many many years, but it is an inevitable result from smoking. My grandfather died from it. So while 1 cig a day is still bad for you, I guess it could be worse. Though I am impressed you are able to keep it at 1 a day, and that you are confident enough to stop after a year. Smoking is addictive, and you are doing exactly the wrong thing by taking it during hard times - you are medicating your self and you'll eventually train your body to want to smoke whenever you are having a hard time, and you justification for a hard time will increasingly become more lax and eventually you'll just smoke for the sake of smoking. So, be it 1 cig a day, be it 50. Smoking is bad for your health. Full stop.

No, it wouldn't be. BUT, nobody I know smokes just one cigarette per day.
Why would you want to smoke anyway?
Find out what is bothering you when you want a cigarette and resolve it.
Otherwise, you may well (along with other smokers) develop the habit of addressing ever emotional or physical need with a cigarette - and end up smoking a pack or more.
It is an addictive substance. Play with it at your own risk.

Huge numbers of people who smoked 1 cigarette a day died horribly. So did many of their loved ones unfortunate enough to be exposed. Smoking is one of the most toxic things known to human kind. If you took a carton of cigs and distilled out the nicotine and coated a dart with it and then shot a dog with the dart, it would die instantly.

Think about it.

Given the wealth of evidence that smoking damages your health, you would have to be stupid not to kick the habit. Now a study suggests this could be a self-fulfilling prophecy, because smoking reduces your IQ.

Lawrence Whalley at the University of Aberdeen and colleagues at the University of Edinburgh, both in the UK, looked at how the cognitive ability of 465 individuals, approximately half of whom were smokers, changed over their lifetime and whether this related to their smoking habits.

They had all been tested in 1947 at age 11 as part of the Scottish Mental Survey, which made no distinction between smoking habits. They were tested a second time between 2000 and 2002, when they were 64 years old.

Smokers performed significantly worse in five different cognitive tests than did both former smokers and those who had never smoked. When social and health factors such as education, occupation and alcohol consumption were taken into account, smoking still appeared to contribute to a drop in cognitive function of just under 1%.

A link between impaired lung function and cognitive ageing has long been suspected, though the mechanism is unclear. One possibility is that smoking subjects the vital organs, including the brain, to oxidative stress, Whalley says. “Ageing neurons are very sensitive to oxidative damage.”

Why you should not smoke

Tobacco is a very dangerous drug. It is legal and widely used.
Thousands of people die every year as a result of smoking cigarettes, cigars and pipes. The combined effects of nicotine, (the main drug in tobacco) and other gases which enter the lungs when smoked, greatly increases the chance of disease and ill-health. Tobacco is a stimulant drug giving smokers a 'lift'.

Smoking has been directly linked to lung cancer, heart disease and other major illnesses, as well being dangerous during pregnancy for the mother and unborn child.

It is also recognised that secondary smoking or passive smoking can put the health of others at risk. This is one of the reasons why smoking has been so widely banned in public places.

Smoking and young people

Although the number of adults who smoke has dropped over the past ten years, this has not happened amongst young people. In fact in some parts of the country the number of young smokers has actually increased especially amongst young women.

Statistics have shown that one quarter of Britain's 15 year olds (both boys and girls) are regular smokers. It is estimated that 450 children per day start smoking. Half of all teenagers who are currently smoking will die from diseases caused by tobacco if they continue to smoke throughout their lives and one half of this number will have their lives shortened by an average of 23 years.

Currently on in five 15 year old boys smoke cigarettes - this is a decrease of 5% since the mid 1980s. The numbers of teenage girls smoking has risen from 25% in the mid 1980s to 29% now - that's one in three.

At today's rates, a 20-a-day smoker will spend $31,025 over the next 20 years.

Regardless of how many you smoke a day whether it be 1 or a pack, the damage builds up over time and becomes a serious problem. How fast can you realize this problem? It depends on how many you smoke a day. It's very hard to control as it's a drug and you will become dependent on it. Pictures of tounge cancer is disgusting. GOOGLE IMAGES that.

yes..dont smoke at all...it wont kill u it wont affect ur health just 1 smoke but i advise stopping it... one of the good ways that i can convince u to stop is that smoking may cause u to lose hair,very bad skin,stop growth,etc. when i think of that i never smoke

365 cigs with chemicals and tar and what not.
i guess it's up to you.
i smoke on occasion too, and this still crosses my mind...
