Lots of steroids given with Chemo drugs can cause this restlessness. I am currently going through Chemo and my Doc gave me a prescription for Ativan to help. You may want to have your Mom suggest this to her Oncologist. It's actually an anti-nausea drug, but it will help her to get some rest as well. If she fights the sleep that it causes it will at least help her to calm down and be able to relax. It's tough, sometimes there's just nothing you can do to be comfortable and stay still. From personal experience I find that this drug really works wonders.

What type of cancer, stage, grade would help clarify the question. It sounds like your mother is depressed and that is treatable. But, you should really talk to her oncologist and find out as much information as you can about her disease. Much also depends on your mothers overall health and age. So, it is impossible to say what is going on with her from your brief description.
Best thing you can do is just love her and stay strong for right now.
As far as chemotherapy drugs go . . not all patients will respond in the same way or at all. Her oncologist should be monitoring how effective the chemo has been on reducing her tumors. If they are not working, than it may be time to switch treatments. Communication with the oncologist is essential as you help your Mom through this difficult journey.
Good luck.

If she is being treated with Steriods this could be the reason for the restless. Also i was on a drug to counter the effects of the chemo, which made me very restless (tingling in my legs, could'nt sit down, short attention span), Speak to the oncologist to see if any of her drugs could be causing this!
Also sounds like she might be slightly depressed, try getting her to try new things/hobbies, and probally the most important thing is depending on age is let her do her own thing, when i was diagonised every one around me went funny (too caring) trying to look after me, makes you feel useless, try treating her as normal as possible, if she had any active hobbies (that she cant do now) try keeping her involved with them.

I have gone through the same situation with my dad and an aunt. i hate to say it but talk to her doctor. the chemo reacts differently with everyone. just be there for her, i'm sure you all realize how hard this must be on her. did she have any hobbies before the diagnosis? try to get her back into them if possible. introduce her to new hobbies that don't require much energy, sewing, puzzles, new authors.
check around, are there any other local people in similar situations? talking to people who have been through it before or are going through it helped for my family.

not having walked in her shoes, we can only guess what she's going through. I do know that, usually, chemo is extremely painful. The only advice I can offer is to be available for her and continue the prayers. I'll add her to my prayer list.

If she is getting a steroid before her treatments, then that maybe causing her restlessness. She needs to speak with her physician regarding this side effect.
