Why are the British so polite?

I would rather someone remember me for my good manners, than to be remembered for being rude to people. I love people I would not want to offend anyone deliberately, so I try to be nice always.

its just the way we are brought up, although i think that were not really as polite as people make out. A night out in any city would show you that, however i'm glad to see that the old customs of saying good morning to people still exists

Indeed it is socialisation that makes any people polite or not. Those raised with manners and standards tend to keep them.
