I dried the first dozen roses my new guy gave me. What ideas do you have for how to save them?

I had a lot of flowers from my husbands funeral and they were dried up. I put them all together in a very large basket and mixed them all up. Went to the Container Store and bought 62 heart shaped bottles with cork stoppers. Put dried flowers in each bottle, filled the bottle with cheap baby oil and plugged it with the stopper. I dipped the top of the bottle into hot melted wax (to seal the bottle) tied a ribbon around the bottle neck and gave them to our kids. We had 2 sons but 60 other kids that hung out at our house. They all had something from their "Dad" and they all loved receiving this. Maybe you could do something like this with your roses. Hope this helps.

There is no way to keep them nice and whole, they will just collect dust. Better to crunch all the petals off together and tie them up in a little bit of silk or other thin fabric with a ribbon. Make it a sachet. Even if the scent is faint, there will be a scent and you can keep it in your socks or underwear drawer.

Or if you want to see the colors, you can do the same thing but put the petals (not necessarily smashed, they can be more or less whole) in a decorative glass bottle sealed with a cork or something to keep the dust out.

But I think the sachet is a nicer way to go. A bit more sensual than something that sits on a shelf.

I think it is very sweet of you to keep all of the flowers your boyfriend has given you. Since you are now getting married and this is a new chapter in your life, why don't you use a fresh, new bouquet of flowers to resemble your new life together? I don't think walking down the isle and having pictures done with dead, dryed out flowers would be so nice. Have something new and fresh for this next big event in your life. You can always save the bouquet of flowers from your wedding and have those to remember your wedding day.

honestly there's not a whole lot you can do with dried flowers, you might be able to find something... but with the next ones (hopefully it's not a one time thing) try pressing them... it makes them flat and beautiful and you can use pressed flowers in a lot more ways to save them.

another way to dry them is to spray them with hairspray and hang them upside down.
