That's great but religions push there agendas and dogma forcefully onto people who don't agree with them. Those people have the right to disagree and explain why.
Don't they?

I agree to some extent. If someone really believes a certain religion, chances are he believes everybody needs it, and that any religion saying the opposite is mistaken. That's logical, isn't it? However that is a far cry from running down and insulting other religions, and calling people stupid or evil who don't share their belief. Belonging to the right religion, according to christianity, is not what get's you into Heaven. It's having a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. So many "Christians" are no more Christian than the most convinced Hindu is a Christian!
Christianity is not about feeling superior. It is about saying "I don't deserve anything but Hell, but God in His mercy has offered salvation". If that is true, then there is no call for a Christian to boast about being in the right religion, or to despise someone who is in another religion.
I realize not all of what I am saying here will be satisfactory to you, but I do agree with much of your point.
EDIT:
Having read other answers, I would add that debate is fine, but we can be polite, charitable, respectful, and loving. To be anything else, (I speak for Christians here) is far from convincing, for one thing! Yes, le's debate, let's pull out all the arguments to back up our beliefs, that's fine. But let's do it respectfully.
Another point: Some here seem to believe only Christians are at fault here. I haven't noticed the same thing. there have been an equal number of disrespectful non-debaters within all beliefs, or non-beliefs. It is more upsetting to me, however, when I see people who claim to be fellow Chrisitans acting that way, because they bring shame on the name of Christ.

Well......
1) I completly agree with you. I am a christian, but i NEVER force anyone to believe what i said. I let htem know that I THINK that they are wrong, but i never put them down for believing something else
2) You said that some people believe in more than one religions or believe in them all. That is highly incorrect. It is impossible for someone to be of two religions or to be of two things. It says in the bible that no servant can serve two masters. Either he will love one and hate the other or he will hate the one and love the other.
Both Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:13 say this:
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
I believe that this does not apply just to believers. It is an example of something that happens naturally and logically. I am sure that someone else has said this outside of a religious sontext.

You'll have the same arguments when people talk about baseball.
Me, I believe in the One True God and all the false religions have caused sufferings and killings throughout history.

Well, if people continue to think that they are the one and only true religion, and there are more than one of these religions that think so, then there's always going to be controversy.

The do this for the same reason that you promote yourself as 'above the fray', beyond the spats of others: to develop a self-concept and identity.

Ya but when christians come on and ridicule others about why dont you accept the lord and savior of this planet it heats it up, and thus begins the debate.
