We read about a guy that came down from a mountain with the finally decided 10 commandments, which worked well for that day and age, when rules were more strict, and laws were followed better, and we believe it because it's written in the Bible. If I was to come down from a mountain with a new set of commandments for this day and age, and told all of you that God has spoken to me and says that he has new rules for us to follow, would you believe me too? Or how quickly would I be thrown into an insane asylum? Why would or would you not believe me, and why then, do you believe something that's simply written down in a book? I was just blessed with an over curious mind, I like theory and logics, so don't think I don't believe in God, I hate Satan and am not scared of him, but I like to ask questions to.

This goes out to the one that says that all I do is question God:
I don't question only God, I question everything, because my mind is more developed and curious than yours, I need explanation, not "Here it is, so believe it" like you simple minded people!

OK, one more added bit here, for those who don't know how to read....I said, lets say GOD told me to do this, would you believe me, I DID NOT say I was making my own rules, nor was I saying that I want any followers! I am not God, nor do I want to be, to see the world that I created and the many many stupid people in it, I would simply write a message in the clouds saying, "Wow, I screwed up bad, you people are just too dumb for me and therefore, with this spear, I stab myself in the head" Read before you answer people, you only make yourselves look dumber when you answer with things that didnt' have to do with what I wrote!

Did you witness the parting of the seas yourself, or did you just read about it? Oh, that's what I thought, and Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves too, but I personally wouldn't follow him if he had new commandments...

Your answer is very good, this is the type of answers I like to see, rather than answering a question with a question, you made a good point, thank you for helping me understand this! See people it's not that hard to rest a curious mind, it just simply takes someone to use logics and facts vs. the original question, thank you Master O!!

If God has spoken to you and told you to write another set of commandments, he would have also told another person what you were doing and hwo to encourage y ou or help in any way. God does not just work with just one person, he may use only one, but he never only makes one person look like an idiot.
The reason why the ten commandments have never been changed is because they have proven to be correct and that is the only version the God wanted. God, the father, is perfect and does not make any mistakes. I believe that the commandments that he set out for the race of humanity in the first place will always be relevant to us until he returns. In the bible it says that there it nothing new under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 says "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." NIV
Nothing new will ever occur. The items that we see today have been here from the begining of thime. They have just not been put together the way that we see them today.
With that being said, If God were to speak to you, he would also have to trouble the heart of someone else and verify with them whether you are wrong or right, depending on wheter he really told you to write another set of commandments or not.

First, I don't know where we get the idea of TEN commandments- the tablet had a whole bunch more than ten, some of them kind of strange and obscure-sounding, like "Though shalt not boil a calf in its mother's milk." Somewhere along the line we decided that ten was a nice round number and picked out only the first ten as being noteworthy.
Second, while these ten commandments give a good insight God's values and expectations for people, and are still are still useful as such, we are not held to the commandments today. Paul tells us we are DEAD to the law, that is useless in saving the soul, and that if we try to keep it - which is impossible - we make Christ's sacrifice for us "of no effect." Basically, it means relying on our own rightousness bring us to God, instead of Christ. And by "law", I (and Paul) mean the whole Mosaic Law, which includes the "ten commandments" but also other parts of Exodus, parts of I think Deuteronomyand Numbers, and the whole of Leviticus. There's like 600-some laws in the Law, and its not for us.
And finally, the reason people believed Moses and wouldn't believe you is that they had seen Moses perform miracles, speak God's message to Pharoah, continue in a cataclysmic confrontation with Pharoah and Egypts god, culminating in the release of about 2 million Israelites from slavery, God leading them in a pillar of smoke by day and a pillar of fire by night, the parting of the red sea and its closing on the pursuing Egyptians, continued miracles of food and water in the desert, the Glory of the Lord descending on Mount Sinai in smoke and fire and thunder, and Moses' face glowing with an unearthly light when he came down from talking with God.
If your relevelation was preceded by all these and more, folks would probably believe you too.

Had you just led me out of slavery and parted the Red Sea? If so, maybe.

Are you trying to be another Mohammad. It is very well possible that you could get follows. As for me....NO WAY. There is only one God, and there has been no other messengers since the Apostles died. Yes people have the gift of the Holy Spirit, but not the gift to change God's rules or make some new ones of your own.

Over the centuries the ten commandments have been rewritten.
Language tweaks mostly.
But a new set is due. I believe strongly in the one commandment.
Let me throw it at you and tell me what you think.
" By action, thought or inaction, do no harm."
It works for me.

Actually there are 11 commandments. Christ said " a new commandment I give to you, love one another " If we all obeyed that one the world would be a better place.

I recall a fellow who came down with new commandments about 600 years after Christ and millions of people believe him today. But that doesn't make Muhammad right.
