I am 39 years old. The mornings are the worst. Since I got married to a anti social guy my drive has left me. I just have nothing to look forward to. What can I do to get my energy and happiness back? We do not go places together or do we even share the same bed. I have become complacent and lack the energy to fix my situation.

To get the opiates working, you need to exercise like crazy, several hours a day for anything between a couple of weeks & a month - till you love it & it gets addictive.

Problem is you won't feel like doing anything just yet. This is because you're probably suffering a reactive depression which saps your energy. A few natural (& one unnatural) bits of chemistry should help.

St John's Wort is a good natural antidepressant you can get in any health shop, supplement this with fruit juice to build up selenium, maybe a dessertspoonful about 4 or 5 times a day, and foods containing tryptophan - bananas, chocolate, marmite & fish oil, all best taken before you go to sleep. Serious reactive depression can also be helped by including brawn in your diet(from a good butcher or deli), daily for a month, then reduce over time to once a fortnight (brawn works because it contains the chemistry that stress & depression burns up from your brain).

If this combination doesn't work after a couple of months, then add in something harder & unnatural like the food colourings & stuff that makes kids hyperactive. I found sunset yellow food colouring works well. My source was cheap powdered orange juice. Take about 3 or 4 tablespoonfuls in water (if your stomach can take it) for a few days until you feel like your brain is buzzing & you won't sleep, then you'll have to go out & take the exercise. The more you exercise, the more you can reduce your intake of chemicals, in any case don't take them longer than 6 weeks. Also, while you're on hyperactive stuff you'll find you're dead bad-tempered, so best not to use this stuff if you can recover without it.

The aim is to get your drive back & get your natural opiates going & feel good. Exercise alone may be enough to maintain it in the future, but the foods should help. If none of these work, you may find a counsellor or psychotherapist will help you more. Best of luck!

That is a great question. Site below has foods like grapes, grapefruits and apples that USDA has found are anti-depression foods. Then on only that page there is a link to anxiety page. That has info on exercises that will cause your brain to create feel good chemicals.

Then see Rx for HAPPINESS page for more on increasing your happiness. The only condition is you will need to do some reading, but not like reading a whole book. The only cost is that you will need to PAY attention. It is your life and you choose how great you want to feel.

I assume that you mean endorphins, not opiates. Aerobic exercise is the only sure-fire way that I am aware of. You didn't mention how long that you have been married. Why did you marry an anti-social guy in the first place?
