Mother Nature has always corrected the problems of earth, whether natural or conditions caused by man.
I believe that you are correct and that diseases will wipe out millions of people in coming years, similar to past plagues, and I also believe there will be more volcanoes and tidal waves and tsunamis, tornados, that will cool down the earth and wipe out more people.
Plus droughts, which kill crops and animals, eliminating the food supply, leading to more deaths.
The earth has a way of taking care of itself and yes, the earth will correct itself regardless of man.

I don't quite see what the Earth is going to do to save itself... I mean it didn't give the birds diseases, or give us antibiotics, or terrorism, or global warming: these things were all done (or made worse by) humans. It seems to me that the planet itself is just a spectator (metaphorically, of course; don't want you to think I'm a hippy!) Either way it doesn't matter, the Earth will be buggered when the sun explodes, or when craploads of rocks and the like hit it from space. I say let it kill us off, it's doomed anyway!

Through natural selection, the remaining humankind will be highly resistant to antibiotics, germs, pollution, global warming, environmental destruction and warfare. It's like of like how hyenas have evolved to be able to eat the most rotten carcasses and thrive. The world of the future will a dark and terrible place flooded with toxins, bad movies, endless warfare played on computers while eating junk food, and who cares if it's 125 degrees outside in the wasteland, we'll still have air conditioning. And we'll just be happy as clams.

We are the virus! Even if our numbers were reduced, are we capable of maintaining a sustainable number of humans? Or will we start to procreate like crazy again?
And CC: yes the earth is an organism, and we are part of it, not separate. Read a little.

no, we are not destroying the world, it is in no more trouble than it has in the last 100 years, so people are going to kill each other, nothing new there. Theres a terrible illness about to strike the world, again heard it before. 3rd world countries may take up arms butg they are 3rd world they can't do anything to the likes of america. Finally global warming, do not live so close to the sea, a few extra storms every year is not going to destroy the world.
In summary stop spreading fear, your as bad as the news channels, the world and all the people in it will be fine.

Well - the earth isn't like a single organism trying to "save itself." But a few incidental earthquakes, or even a couple of large meterorites would do the trick. There is nothing we can do except be and encourage others to be environmentally friendly.

the human race is like a cancer we take what we want and give nothing in return, if this goes on we are dooming the one place that we have to live, we know of nowhere else in the universe (yet!) that could harbour our fragile species, so what we are doing to this planet is like taking out a persons organs and then willing him/her to get up fight back even tho we have cut their legs and arms off... i pose a return question, if the earth has a molten lava inside, and we are taking all the riches from the outer layers, what is gonna stoke the earths inner fire once we have taken it all for ourselves?

Yes, the Earth will!! The human race cannot leave self alone. We have to try and outdo all, that will be our downfall. The Earth will claim itself back and hopefully one day in thousands of years healed itself
