We all do things we regret when we are younger. Hopefully he has changed, the fact he told you is because he wants to be open and honest with you. Like wiping the slate clean. You know him better than anyone, follow your head not your heart.

The thought of your boyfriends crime sickens me....cant think what would drive somebody to do something like that to another human being.....I'm here wondering weather he had a drug problem or something..(not that it makes his crime right) but life drives people to make the worst choices of our lives and regretting it forever.
The fact that he felt that he wanted to tell you about it and said that you both couldn't go further unless you knew the truth...says to me that he must be sorry for what he's done.
You need to find out why he did it and if he's still got tendencies to be violent against others....if you have seen this for yourself or there is a little hint that hes got a bad temper and maybe you have explained this away in the past.....I would like to say that if any of the above has happened then get out of this relationship because believe me things will only get worse!
Its up to you to ask the right questions to get the answers that you need to make a decision....people can change but not very often so be careful......also talk to your friends they can see things about your fella that maybe you cant!
Good Luck

i'll be totally honest here. it was EVIL what he did, nobody should hurt an innocent person, especially an elderly person, and i would turn my back on anyone i knew,if i had found at that they had done that,BUT he's done his time and its in the past,if he has changed and totally regrets what he has done, maybe you should let it drop, and carry on your relationship if you truly do love him, personally i wouldnt tell your friend, because if your boyfriend has matured and changed, its best to leave things as they are,in the PAST! you are the only person who can answer this question really,at the end of the day,he's been honest with you,you need to sit down and have a very big talk, find out if he truely regrets it etc.....good luck, and i'm sure whatever decision you make will be the right one,but its got to be your decision only.

Apparently you're boy friend really does feel bad for what he has done, and had to get it off of his chest. His confession may have been a test to see what you're reaction would be, which I believe was apporiate. He just wasn't really prepared for you're reaction. It's a tough question, can you really be with a man who has done such a hidias deed against an old man. You're heart will let you know. No, I would'nt tell you're friend, just in case you have a change of heart. I would keep this private between you're boyfriend and you, besides he's done his time, let it rest.

Love is blind.....
Be careful, no one would want it to be you at the end of his rage after an argument or after having had one to many on a night out.
Unfortunatly, what caused him to do it may still be buried deep inside - I would not doubt he is sorry for having done it but, unfortunatly, that is not a guaranteed "wont do that or something like that again"

This is for you to decide. I have a lot of respect in a man, who has done wrong, lived up to his punishment, and is honest about things. If a woman had done something crazy, I would move slower though, so....

Only you can decide this one, but could you live with yourself if he ever done anything like that again? If he is heartless enough to do that, then who knows what else he might do (even to you). As far as im concerned, admittance doesn't earn him any respect.
